Hi guys, so I've got a Makita clutch basket, but now I'm thinking is it stupid not the change the hub too! there is a bit of wear from the plates in the old basket but I'm changing it because it had loads of play. Am I going to get rattle from the plates using the old hub, and how many of you changed both??

How much play do you have in your existing basket? I am thinking of going down a similar route as I have about 5-6mm play in mine, and there are a few grooves in the basket too.

Hi John, mine had around 8mm on mine, so decided to change it. Drilling the rivets out is fun but not too difficult. Norbo does a kit with basket and rubbers for £85, I was able to get a Makita basket for not much more, but then had to buy the rubbers.

Cheers Phil Looked at the kit Norbo does, very nice. Doesn't look too difficult either. The project continues to grow methinks John

I've changed one once before. The orange hybrid (pv engine) had a worn looking hub, so I bought a new Yamaha item from Martin at MBD who had it in stock. Think it was about £55.00. Dusty

Dusty Cheers again Dusty I think I remember someone saying Martin at MBD is on here. Do you know his user name so I can drop him a message? John Apologies Phil for hijacking your thread here

Fewer people in North America enamoured with these oldies?? Also there's no ever escalating 'selling on' market affecting prices people are willing to tolerate.

I saw that, quite few cheap ones in the USA, other bits are holding similar values. I wonder why the clutch basket doesn't. Shame most places want to change the earth to ship stuff to UK, then HMRC want their pound of flesh too Phil
