My mates Cus does vapour blasting and the metrials and the equipment are very expensive
If you work out half hours work for say a car mechanic dealer £60 a hour so £30 for half a hour it was not expensive
Still seams a lot but my mates cus that I no said he would do my engine cases and barrel (Rd125lc) for cash £50

It's a pisstake. A set of crankcases at Cox's in Reading would be £50 - been the same price for years. I got a set done last year at a different place - £20. !! Had my Lc barrels done by a new guy late last year - £30 the pair, and this caliper and bracket was a tenner; 20190108_164834 by dusty miller, on Flickr Dusty

I work for my self and charge a hourly rate for some people @ £25 a hour and I have not got a unit or thousands of ££££ worth of equipment
I work from my van as a painter and decorate
I just don’t think this was that over priced really sorry if I have a fended you was not meant to have

Hey, no problem Pete, we are all entitled to opinions. I'm self employed now - I used to work for the local authority, and my hourly rate didn't seem great for some of the stuff I used to do ! But you have to be competitive in business, if you want the business, and £50 seems strong for 4 small parts. The fella I use now bought his kit last year - cost him 12k - and I actually think he is cheap - hence I give him a drink on top of his fee. All I would say is, if he does a frame and all the other parts Stusco mentioned for £200, and then 4 small parts for £50, his pricing is a bit "askew", and maybe he's learning as he goes along ? The going rate for a set of twin cylinder crankcases is £50
I understand the equipment is expensive but as a business you have to write off expenses over a couple of years
That way your £12k spend really needs to earn you £500 a month
That's 10 £50 jobs to break even on it
If you ain't doing more than 10 jobs a month you shouldn't have spent £12k lol

I usually pay £45 for a set of engine casings to be done, so 4 small parts for £50 seems higher than average.

this will be the place in Winchburgh that advertises at about 150% of the cost of everyone else for a set of alloys? its under a mile from me and I was quite pleased when I heard they were starting, but sorry, not at the prices they are quoting... wheels would have to come back absolutely perfect (better than new!) at those prices!!
