Morning to all,
Stupid question coming up, my F2 restro has slightly bent clip-ons, one is worse than the other.
Question - Should they be bent ??!!!! and if so is it possible to straighten them as I understand they are now unavailable from Mr Yam.
Cheers all
Mollers.

They should be straight. You would be surprised what a hit with a rubber mallet can do or a bend with a bit of scaf pipe...

I straightened mine a few years back. Just inspect closely for cracks after you straighten those

I simply ground the old ones off, and replaced with new tube.
The clamp is a casting with a stub on it that Yamaha simply slid a 7/8” tube over and spot welded it. The R models also have a bit of brasing on the end.

They are made of cheese
Fit them to the bike or clamp in a vice and put a 2ft bar over and tweak
They are so shortly made I had 2 new ones that when put in a jig they were not the same

I used heat .. Cautiously. It at least doesn't produce hidden fractures.

Ive a bunch of F1 bars I was going to weld new bars onto the stubs and bought some NOS ones to use for making the jig. Less easy to do than the F2s of course and ive not got round to it yet, sigh. Still, no harm sitting on the nos F1s, not like theyre getting cheaper lol

I'm using 1986 FZ600 clip on , they are 36mm but they fit perfectly with a simple 0,5 mm sleeve , cheap and plenty .
