Hi , I have stripped one out recently and measured an un worn part it was 14mm . The stand mounting brackets were worn . They were built up with weld and re drilled . I made a new pin out of 14mm bar .

Many thanks chaps, wearing of the actual holes is a good point too.
I were wondering if wear in those components alone could cause the rear wheel not to lift far enough away from the ground. I have heard of frame tube damage being the cause but mine looks fine to me.
Placing 5mm shims between the tops of the stand and frame corrects things so I'm thinking that it could be wear between the holes/pin??

Placing 5mm shims between the tops of the stand and frame corrects things so I'm thinking that it could be wear between the holes/pin?? I had this problem with my LC when I bought it, the original 14mm diameter pin was really loose and worn and the holes in the lugs were all oval shaped resulting in the back wheel just sitting on the ground as the stand comes too far forward, common LC problem, I drilled the holes out in the lugs and through the stand to 16mm and made a new pin to suit it, I also welded a 3mm thick washer on the top of each stand leg and it's been good since then, I have about 50mm of clearance now between the tyre and the ground, although I see plenty of pictures of bikes that look like they have a lot more than that, anyone know what it would have originally been when new? Cheers Steve

"anyone know what it would have originally been when new?" I'd like to know that figure too.
