I was told by a copper that the vans had a 1km range at a bike meet a few years ago but that kinda confirms it....You wouldnt even spot that , if you was actually concentrating on your driving...would be great if they put that time, money and effort into local policing in our communities but thats much harder eh..

Smug t**t holding it, reckon it is to compensate for his lacking in other depts. I would like to see it being used for a internal rectal examination and see that smile disappear.

Quote from article, "The aim is not just to penalise motorists but to uphold the law by creating a change in people’s behaviour. But the police will enforce the law when necessary.", the smug look on his face says something different...
If “they” were serious about increasing road safety and not just generating revenue we would have a greater police presence on the roads, in marked vehicles. It’s amazing how the standard improves when the jam sandwich is rolling around.
Whatever happened to the public service commercials we grew up with, education is a start!

Amazing technology, but increased revenue generation for sure. Roll on having all these self driving cars on the roads, then cops can go back to catching burglars etc. tho by then those skills will be lost I guess, manning a gun in a car isnt the same as walking a beat or tracking a killer. Tho of course they will see us non-leccy conveyances as seriously dangerous by then and we'll be outlawed, or fined by GPS tracker and you'll hear the voice of the 'man' in your head say 'You have been fined 3 credits John Spartan' (for who remember the film Demolition Man). Of course the cop manpower will be seriously depleted by then without the funding for speeders. We get a bit less 'free' every year.... but we are told we are safer.
I used to use part of the 417/419 on my commute... its a fast road with multiple lanes and can easily take more speed and modern cars are safer and can handle and stop better than the cars designed when the limits were set. If speed limits moved with technology we should be going 120 on roads like that. Maybe the standard of driving would be better when people are having to actually drive, ie you coudlnt hustle along a Mk1 Escort at speed and sext etc.
In Aus we have lots of speed/red light cameras now and cops on the side of the road all round the city, main roads and the 'nice roads'. Thousands of people dedicated to removing your money and eroding your licence. So much so that an insurance company told me the other day that they accept 3 speeding fines without penalty now as almost everyone has some. The govt proudly proclaimed how they are saving us money with a new scheme where you get a half price licence renewal if you havent been naughty, so you'd think they'd produce stats saying how good we've been like a schools league table, but they havent... I bet they rarely lose any revenue on this 'saving' theyve offered us. (Tho I did get the saving the last renewal, but who knows next time). The insurance companies ask if youve ever lost your licence, and I asked about that and they didnt load you very high for that either as so many people have done that, especially the young lads. Almost all 18-22yr olds I meet at the car places seem to have lost their licence for 6-9months for speeding way over the limit in their short driving careers.
Ahh well, its the safe modern world, enjoy every bit of road you can find without a cop on it today, in a few years you wont be able to. The nanny state and the moaners will win, theyve 'saftey' on their side.

I must be one of the lucky ones I guess. For sure we have cops with cameras but my route each day takes me down the only dual carriageway that ever has the cop van parked up. Always the same time and place...thankful that cops have zero imagination, everyone knows they are there...
And about 2 miles from me is a stretch of road about 3 miles long. It less than a B road, more a Z road really. Rarely has more than one vehicle on it and no side turnings. You can see a good mile ahead of you so any bikes that need maxing out (to the speed limit of course lol) get tested there. A few tw1isty bits as well, it's a great race track...sorry, road!

I got had by a bl...y helicopter in 1989 , a bit sly of them as I'm obviously concentrating on things in front of me and not in the sky! (Not proud of it but was the fastest they had got that day at Boxhill.)

One shot up from behind a rise in front of me and flew backwards filming me on the M1 once in the early 2000s, the slipped sideways and then followed me for a few miles... Long miles lol. Turns out when I got to work they were all talking about a big chase in Nottingham for thieves who made of in a blue Scooby just like mine... freaked me out.

A parked up speed camera can only get you on your bike if you do not see it and drive past, as if you stop before it, they cannot see your rear number plate. You could stop and take off your number plate...if you were that way inclined...

It was on a Z1000J which I still have at 115mph average over a 1/2 mile including a sweeping bend. It really used wobble and weave but I didn't know any better. I've modded it now with modern running gear.

I can understand why they couldn't have let you off at that speed.
