Hi all, I've got chance of a 2hk bottom end for my mk1 lc as i've no engine for it, The bottom end isn't complete there's no crank or clutch in it but all the gearbox etc is there, depending on which way i go can't decide whether to build it up as a powervalve engine and fit that or is it just a case of fitting a mk1/2 crank and clutch then the original type square barrel? Are the mk1/mk2 cranks the same? The mk3 crank has a longer stroke hasn't it?Cheers Andy.

Is there any markings on the conrods to say which is which or is it a case of just measuring? Was unsure what to do with my Mk1 was going to do original but i havn't got the matching engine so might do a standard colour mk1 with the new engine in it.

No mate i've got none of that stuff, its basically the bottom end without the crank and clutch. it might be better to bang a mk1/mk2 crank in it with a standard top end.

I'd build a mk 2 unless you're gonna put the power valve servo on!
Is it a mk 1 or mk2/3 bottom end you have?

The Mk 2 and 3 bottom end had the same clutch cover, and the mk 1 had a slightly different one!
The wiring etc for the powervalve would involve different loom, ignition unit etc etc,

It's a mk3 2hk bottom end i have. you will need a mk1/2 rod kit to run a square barrel,if you have got a decent mk3 barrel it will be cheaper and easier to run the mk3 top end, saying that if your rebuilding it and its going in a mk1 id fit a mk1/2 barrel and rod kit but its up to you,not much difference either

Yeah it is different. Just out of curiosity has anyone tried to fit a tzr 125 engine in an rd frame?
