So....let me guess you're not supposed mask it and then leave it for four months when life intervenes and 2) you're supposed to pull off the masking tape while the paint is still.....wet? as for the scratch- that'll polish out....heh.

Use a low tack masking tape and take it off once paint is touch dry, and before you bake it in the oven.

I used a permanent silver marker. I plonk mine on a oil fired radiator for about an hour.

thank you sir.... and I hope they don't turn out like Fanny's.... moving on I think I'm going to strip them and try again.....they don't look too bad from a distance tho...but I've learnt not to paint the top of the cylinders as there it's not a clean line...it looks raggedy looking down on them....incidentally u can see the difference in the port here....someone's been messing with the left one.
