For a lot of guys its all about the build and once done they look for another project. That fits with me and its each to their own. That is a stunning special. Really well put together with all the right parts. And lets face it, it would cost you around 10k probably to build it to that standard especially if you had to buy a donor bike to begin with. Yes it is a big initial outlay but you either spend it at the start or by the time you finish. And donor parts arent cheap and often getting more expensive so building quality only gets more expensive. Good luck Nick. Its a stunning special for someone😉

I understand that ethos completely but it's still a sad moment. But whoever gets it will cherish it for sure. Hope you get top dollar mate.

eh I am quite a bit gutted, it was never my intention to sell, thats why I built it as good as I could. It did get a bit out of hand with the cost, as you will all be too aware I made a bit of a punt last year on a piece of land in a national park where myself and the family spend a lot of time. The land was refused planning before I bought it and I saw a loophole in the refusal, thats why I took a chance. Got news recently that I can "probably" build a log cabin, its something for my kids, and for me and the missus when the older years become a reality, so I have to make good choices now.. Ive got 3 kids between 2 and 9, and this would be such a great place for them to have memories of, so I hope you see the reasoning behind my decision... Go-on, I know many will say yes easy decision, get thrashing the bike!!

It's a no brainer imo. Enjoy the cabin with the family.

It was a bloke from Taunton, he was booking flights within 2 hours of it going up for sale!
TBH i have a very weird feeling about selling it, a not pleasant feeling in my stomach... Riding it yesterday didnt help, bloody hell it felt planted compared to what I remember of LC's.
Feel sick as a dog......But have to look at the bigger picture, there will be another, cant see it being as good as this one though..😢
I got the "ideal price" for what I wanted, and its going to someone who is very excited and gets whats been done.

yep, sometimes its best NOT to ride them if you have to sell them, I've got one of my hybrids like that, I maybe selling it (one of the big engined ones), thankfully I've not ridden it yet, so less precious about it, but if I ride it then I know that will change, just got to decide what I want to do and if I really want to sell another bike

All this talk about selling gave me the heebeejeebees, so I went and bought a very original 1980 DT175 that just needs unseizing and a little bit of work.
Now I just need to find room to store it until I can get round to it! 😂

Good on ya Nick😉 You sold it for a good reason. Im sure you wont look back when you are sat in your log cabin watching the kids playing outside ! I've sold so many now i've got used to it but it helps that I sell to buy another so keeps me occupied. I sold my white/red lc in May and never looked back to be honest. The buyer now wants my orange hybrid. Not quite finished that yet but I will and then maybe It will go, but i will have something else lined up first😉 Good luck with the cabin project. Thats a build thread I would love to follow !!

Ive got a 4" file with legal/planning/design manual for roads and bridges etc that I have complied to get as far as I have. I wont put any specifics up until I get anything 100% confirmed, you never know who's reading. I'll be sure to put something up when the time is right. The other plus is I now have a good set of tools, I started with adjustables and hammers!!

When i was looking for a new shed/workshop, I trawled the internet for options. There are some awesome kit form cabins available out there. Proper Canadian style cabins built from trees !! Now that would be awesome !! 😉 Good luck with whatever you build😊

I’m a total newbie on here but saw the bike on eBay and was seriously wowed by it , how can you not be .
I’m discussing a ‘new build’ with someone at the moment and although it’ll have all new offical parts it won’t have the detail of that bike .
I’m still looking for the right bike for me . What this tells me is that a non original bike is still very much wanted by folk especially with that detail.
I did bid on that bike but not close to where it no doubt sold .
Well done to buyer and seller .
Truly something to enjoy

Hybrids take many forms - whether it's just a change of engine, or running gear or both - there is a myriad of options available, and they are a huge sub culture of their own in the world of Lc's. And lets face it - the Lc was always meant to be modified and tinkered with, and "improved" !! Whatever your choice, the best of any style will fetch big money, but cost big money to do of course. Good luck with whatever you decide to go with. Dusty

I remember Stan Stephens from many years back . He seems to have retired now . He had a premises with bikes for sale by brands hatch . I had considered an RGV but I’m preferring the cult following of the RD’s for now
