I got lucky by syringeing some oil into my lc350 rev counter which took the whirring noise out of it, but....no luck with the speedo...Is there any permanent fix that can be done to eradicate the noise from the speedo.. Tks..

I have the same issues on my 31K and have been advised it is to do with the very internals of the clocks and parts wearing. There is a guy who rebuilds them and after doing as you did and fitting new cables I've got to send mine away to have them repaired correctly. www.guagerepairs.com/#

I was hoping for a DIY solution to this.. Over the winter i"ll peel open the clock and pack in a wee bit of grease and see if that helps...

I opened mine and cleaned the bearing with electrical contact cleaner from a spray can. Then lightly oiled with sewing machine oil. Has been good since but I guess the level of success will depend on how worn it is.

I cleaned and lightly oiled the tacho to good effect, but the speedo still whined. Luckily I had a spare. The mechanism is easy to get to through the light slit. Good to know there is someone who can repair these, as the buggers are hard/expensive to replace.
