Anyone know anyone North or Midlands that repairs exhausts?
I have quite a few cigar sets that have a few dinks and scrapes and interested if anyone specialises in straightening them out etc.
Thanks in anticipation.

I would be interested too. I have managed to pick up a ding in my otherwise minted 350lc pipes (lhs).

Hi I am sure I have seen some one do this . They drilled holes opposite to the damage and dressed them out then welded the holes up and made good the damage with lead or bronze weld then paint .

Think that was me
I've repaired a few now.
It's doable but a right pain.
Yes drill holes on the rear behind the dint then push a 10mm or so rod with a slightly rounded head in and tap the dint out
Any rash needs going over with a flap wheel to remove the plated surface, brazed over then dressed back.
Weld up the holes and dress
The difficulties are the internal baffle plates stop you getting to bits easy
More difficult as I don't weld or braze so had to farm that out

Thanks for that Steve. I'm going to try it myself, how hard can it be etc... Alex

Yeah, cheers Steve. Never thought about that approach. I'll give it a go during the winter strip and if I get stuck I know where to call

Jonw I admire your patience and the craft shown. I was hoping to find a company that does this sort of thing as i don't want to bin some very usable, but cosmetically challenged pipes!

Thanks for the kind words Shaun, Wasnt that hard to do, I reckon anyone with a welder and some time could sort pipes out really, perhaps look at someone who restores old cars?

Thanks Alex, Its really not that hard. Learning to weld is a skill everyone should master, welders are cheap these days. My little Clarke welder from Machine Mart is almost 20years old and saved me a bunch of money over the years.
