Riding to the garage for the first post resto MOT I noticed a funny noise from the rear wheel when riding over bumps. Some investigating revealed that the is the large washer that sits inside the circlip (shown in the pic) that moves around and rattles against the circlip. Now for the stupid question, is it supposed to do that?

Hi freddie, no is the answer... I dont have a 250 wheel to hand to check at the moment and i can't remember definatly if the washer fits between the circlip and the sprocket, if so, maybe the sprocket is a bit narrower than standard.. I do know that the washer under my circlip is well snug.

Mine did that, I made a shim out of gasket paper to fit behind it. Fixed the rattle.
