Ive just stripped my carb, cleaned it, and rebuilt it due to running problems, and found that even though there is a filter in the tank on the tap the bowl was full of very fine silt. So, I've added an inline filter, adjusted everything all up, and she starts brilliantly. However, when you rev her and then let go of the throttle she hangs on to the revs at about 2500-3000 rpm for 10 seconds before settling! Has anyone got any ideas? I've only done 40 miles since the rebuild so I'm wondering whther to put a few hundred miles on and then play with plug chops etc?

I had a problem with hytec reeds years ago that would not settle on tickover ,changed to steel reeds problem gone .Possibly air leak or sticking cable too

The cable is definately free enough, I'll go around with a can of WD4o tomorrow whilst it's running and have a spray, if the revs change I've found an air leak ?!?!?!??!?!

a crazy big main jet can also cause this,i remember playing with jets on a tzr125 and had that problem

It's got steel reed valves in, so can rule that out!
I should've made a note of the size of the main jet when I had it out!
I'll have a hunt for air leaks tomorrow!

my revs would stick where i left the throttle i thought the cable was buggered but it turns out because i had no air box or filter it was sucking in water and this made the slide stick, i put a power filter on and this reduced the problem but it would get worse again so std air box is best, i was also gettin water bulding p inthe float bowl which killed it at high revs

STD air box, new throttle cable!
I'm going to try having my finger on the tick over screw when letting go of the throttle to see if the throttle slide hits the tick over screw as soon as I let go of the throttle or whether something's sticking!
I'll report back tomorrow!

I'll report back tomorrow! try winding the idle screw almost right out so the bike will only idle if you use the throttle to keep it on a idle speed, this may help solve the problem

Well the throttle slide isn't sticking, I can feel it hitting the tick over screw! I've been up to the local cafe and back on it tonight, (about 10 miles) with my mate on his GSXR 750, and I've decided as it's not running lean, I'm going to put a couple of hundred miles on it and then get Taymar Racing to set it up on his Dyno!

cool,i wanted to get my 125lc set up on a local dyno, one said they never have and never will allow any 2stroke on tere dyno as 2strokes bugger there probe thing up they put in the bikes exhaust, and the other one would only do a power run (to test power, not adjust anything) let us know what it produces,21 bhp will be a nice healthy engine

Taymar builds and maintains race 350 LC's so I don't think my 125 should be too much of a problem www.taymar-racing.co.uk/I'm hopeful for 21 BHP with it's exhaust etc, pity the powerband doesn't kick in until 7000-7500 rpm

been out and done 20 miles tonight, it's a bit hesitant if you back off in the powerband then wind it back open, but once it get's going it's superb!
I'll get a few more miles on her then get the carb set up properly!

it would be interesting to see what it makes on the dyno and weather or not it will hit the magical 21bhp
