Can anyone provide guidance on what sort of running in is called for after a complete rebuild?
Cheers!

When I bought my R new it was 500 miles under the powerband (5k?) and after that every hundred miles another 1000revs. dont labour the engine in any gear during this period.

3 heatcycles. Listen carefully. Look for leaks. Then wide open. If it is good, then it is.

Cheers! I’ve done two. It sounds good but I do have a slight coolant leak at the front, between the barrel and the head. I’ve tried tightening the head bolts to 25 ft/lb. This improved things but didn’t fix it so I guess I’ll try another gasket.

Bit different but the Athena kit I just got, says 4 hours of gentle use then go for it ! So that's like 8 trips to my fave bike café there and back which is 16 miles each way (30 minutes) , so that's 128 miles EEEK !
Don't know about that LOL
It seems the heat cycles are important too

Don't know about that LOL It seems the heat cycles are important too If it's forged pistons it will be fine I only did 4 heat cycles then 6 riding heat cycles (2 miles of each run held at 6k revs) Less than 100 miles then canned Only really fit for a well built motor. The important thing is the bore clearance must be perfect to start with Anything else I'd give 100 miles below 5k being really gentle, then 200 below 6k not putting too much load on it then 200 miles building the load and revs Steve
