Ok, Looking to get my top end tuned, what tuners are you all using, what BHP, top speed at what RPM are you achieving and what is your set up . Looking to achieve a reliable but 120mph plus punchy motor. cheers John

A good valve engine which is basically blueprinted and some good pipes from kenny two stroke addict would not be far away as for more tuning try muttsnuts on here

Check out the thread New Addition page 15. This as a nice graph. For top speed you cant beat a good streamlined fairing, but I guess that detracts from the image of the bike

A good standard F2 with a decent set of pipes should go off the clock

Have a chat with Martin at madbiker designs, he's got an excellent tuner on board. As for pipes talk to Mutts or Kenny. Kenny has a long waiting time and mutts is around a week. my hybrid has a mild madbiker tune with v force 4 reeds, wicked billet inlet, 30mm mikuni flatslides and a set of mutts pipes. The bike makes 66bhp at 9500rpm at the wheel on Mutts dyno and noticebly pulls from 4500. Wheelies are off the throttle in 1st and 2nd.

Do you have a dyno chart for your bike? This is what I'm looking to achieve, what top end do you get and roughly how much was the tune from MBD. Cheers John

Yea, got a graph. I'll post it up later as I'm out at mo. Not sure what the top end is as I've not had it flat out yet.

Hi John
A Mick Abbey tune, mutts or Kenny pipes and a decent ignition curve and set squish will see 70 rwhp
Mine is currently running mid 70's with a +4 crank, pwk 28's, v4 reeds, and Kenny pipes (airbox fitted)
Other engines with same spec are doing 80 rwhp so mine is "safe"
Got a Zeel but still needs to go to mutts as ign curve is a bit finger in the air.
Pulls from 4k but needs taller gearing as will easily hit the rev limiter at 115mph in top
Steve

I’d be thinking about suspension first or you’ll be bouncing round like a four year old on smarties. A new shock and fork setup is money well spent.

Got to get my hybrid sorted Rgv front and rear ends still on standard rear shock and definitely need forks doing. My race tzr was done by MCT. might send the forks there and splash cash for an ohlins rear shock. Better get some more weekends in or wait for next years tax return ;-)

Steve, Looks like I'll be giving Mick Abbey a call, anyone have a graph they can post up with one of Mick's fast road tunes? As for handling that's all sorted ,SZR 660 front and rear end , new rear tss shock and modified rgv springs in the forks.Just needing more speed now.Probably go down to Mutts for a set of his pipes and get a set up on the Dyno while I'm there as the Zeel will need twerking. Cheers John

Try to co-ordinate the porting to match the type of pipes you use.

Hi ferox100
gather you saw the dyno graph in my 'New Addition' post.
The engine was built/tuned by MBD/Floydy Racing, it is the tune plus Mutts's pipes. Standard air box and filter, snorkel removed, standard carbs reeds etc. She was set up by Mutts on his dyno (first class job) She makes 66RWHP and goes link stink, really happy with her!
I did have a 'wicked' billet head (bought new), however i cannot recommend them as mine was pressurising the cooling system and forcing coolant out of the expansion tank! Turned out to be a cracked dome, I have since learnt this is not an uncommon problem with these heads, so save your money! They look lovely, but in my experience and some other peoples, they are not worth the money!
I have since reverted to the standard head, with no loss in performance and not had a problem!
Also, i totally agree with comments about the suspension/handling, get that sorted first
Good luck with your bike Mouse

If your getting Mick to port your engine then get Mick to make your pipes as well. That way you know they are matched to the type of tune you are having. No point getting mid range pipes and having top end porting or vice versa.

Muttsnuts pipes Ignitech Powerdynamo standard porting But Powervalves were leaking so losing power

About the same results as Sparx, with:- Mick Abbey tune & pipes with Ignitech & PWK 28's Power on mine is slightly higher up the revs, but haven't messed around with PV settings as yet, believe its still not fully open till 10K

Pilot 40, Main 128 Needles, I think are JJH - long time since I looked.
BTW, running standard air box/filter with the lid drilled and snorkel removed.
Is running slightly rich at bottom end, but the top end is close to what is required. Need a bit more time on dyno to fine tune.

Cheers same as mine except l run 48 pilot which seems to be the case with LCs, they do tend to want a stronger pilot .

Hybrid Powervalve engine with fixed powervalves. Its not done much more than 3000 miles. It has had a hard life and it feels like its getting long in the tooth so this winter I will pull it apart and inspect it. The pinky colored line is the final outcome on the dyno.
What I like too see is the torque curve.

Just curious why not 2 AFR meters for left and right exhaust?
