So after alot of looking decided to sort out the powervalves on my 350N1 ! They have been blowing on the inside of the barrels with black 2stroke goo running down the side of the barrels. So took barrels off last night which took about an hour and then to work today ,quick word with the boss and the centre lathe was free this afternoon .After inspection the outside valve diameter and bushes seemed acceptable but both on the inside (which had been blowing)were badly worn.First thing turn down valve diameter which runs in bush down until round again with full cleanup to 5/8 (GOT A REAMER THAT SIZE!)get some phos bronze out of scrap skip and turn O/D to suit barrel ream 5/8 to suit valve groove for o/ring .repeat for other barrel! just need to sort ends for middle connector as these are badly worn as well ,build up with tig and mill back to size?

If I read this right you have made bushes for the worn valves to bring them back to original OD?
If so I’d personally have welded the valves before you did the turning to undersize OD.
Most people would have just bought new valves, but I guess if you have/have access to the equipment and skills why not. Very satisfying repairing something.

now the valves are under size you might have a problem finding a seal

Agree Jon could have welded valve diameter and then turned back to original o/d but as i was making bushes to suit seemed like an easy option.Another thought was this is over 30 years of wear and if i do 500 mile a year im lucky ! so unlikely to wear out again soon in my ownership. Yes could buy new valves at over £100 each or couple of hours of my own time?

now the valves are under size you might have a problem finding a seal The actual diameter for the seal was not worn so i can use the original castle seals, two diameters on the valve for bush and seal
