Just had my stator rewound as it was goosed bike runs ok but noticed my regulator rectifier is really hot I've disconnected battery tonight anyone know what the fault might be its a mk1 125lc cheers jolly

Are you saying that it's hot even with the ignition turned off ? (hence why you need to disconnect the battery ?)
Part of the regulators job is to loose any over current generated that isn't used/needed, so with the headlight on for example, the regulator will have less work to do.
They do get hot (hence why you often see them mounted to catch airflow).
