Hi, can anybody tell me the O/D of the bearing that goes in the top case for the clutch arm? I bought one of the upgraded ones and even after freezing it there is no way its going in! I don't want to damage it. It measures 21.40mm on my vernier, seems a strange size and I wonder if its wrong.
Thanks.

So to answer partly my own question, I just found out my new one isn't round... 21.4 and 21.8! defiantly scrap.

Are you using an OEM Yamaha bearing or an aftermarket part?

I'm now very wary of the "upgraded" bearings
I bought a full set from tss years ago for my 385
I never got the clutch arm one but the selector drum bearing didn't fit
Also the bearing behind the clutch has a little too much end float for my liking

I had one of those TSS clutch basket bearings , it was SKF but looked like he had machined the groove on the outer bearing shell !
When I tightened the cases up, it developed a tight spot

All the crank and gearbox bearings and seals are OEM, the clutch arm on was one of those "upgraded" ones but I'm going to get get a genuine Yam part now! garbage.....

Legend motorcycles by chance?
As Steve says, the selector drum one is the same.
A complete waste of money. I’m surprised they haven’t got bad press on this before, like they did with their kickstarts.

Ive fitted a bunch of upgraded bearings to my engines (all from TSS) and had no issues with any of mine. I do know there were issues with the plain bearings used on the clutch basket but I havent used one of those. All the other bearings, including the clutch arm were fine for me. Maybe I was just lucky?

O/D was 21.7mm, so it wasn't going to go in the 21mm hole.......he said they'd sold "hundreds" with no issue and refunded me straight away- didn't want the item for inspection etc. which kind of suggests this happens a lot. Bought an OE one; went straight in.
