Hi All, just to set the record straight and to save me getting anymore PM's, emails or phone calls about setting up a power dynamo with a zeeltronic (pcdi-10vt).
To date, I have not set this combo up, or heard of anybody getting it working, I've looked at the zeel wiring diagram (pcdi-10vt) and have come to the conclusion that this zeel will NOT work with a power dynanmo, now I maybe proved wrong, in which case great, and will the person or persons who HAVE successfully got this working please PM me so I can discuss as for some reason people seem to think its possible with the pcdi-10vt
I've certainly not said its possible, I only developed, tested and fit the PD and ignitech combinations, of which I've fitted loads to bikes without issue
Now if somebody wants to send me a pcdi-10vt so I can see if I can get it working then send me a PM and I'll see what I can do, but my current thoughts are it won't work, so far this week I've had 3 different people with the same issue, all I can suggest is go back to where you bought them and ask for technical support as unfortunately I can't help, plus I didn't sell you them, and having spoke to PD they do not support or have tested this combo either, so no point asking them as they will tell you the same, go back to the seller for technical support
The PD may work with different zeel units, but again, I've not tested or tried it, so I can't help with any other type of zeel unit and PD combo
Thanks in advance

thanks for the reply, according to Norbo Lee they work , (that's who i purchased the PD off ) hoping someone has carried out this conversion and will be able to let people know , otherwise i might have to install the original ignition back on for the zeel setup , cheers marty

You actually need the PDCI-11V to allow it to work with the PD rotor/stator, as there is no high and low speed running coils (exciter coils) in the PD stator. The PDCI-11V uses 12V to generate power for HT coil sparks instead of using the two exciter coils like the OEM Yamaha system uses. The PCDI-10VT needs the high and low speed coil connections, so needs an OEM stator.
The PDCI-11V is more equivalent to an Ignitech unit due to this difference.

I have done this combo a few times for people and as no one has ever got back to me to say its not worked i would assume they got it working. Im no good at wiring my self i send out out both wiring diagrams and manuals and they fit them.

I take it no one reported back that it works either from what you say Norbo mate. It seems pretty conclusive that without exciter coils you can't make the 10vt work. But if someone has successfully combined the two, I'd be very interested to know how as I have a 10vt and would love to update the genny to a PD.

Rob is right, the only one I reckon it will work with is the PDCI-11V having looked at the Zeel wiring diagram for that unit, although, I've not actually tried it
Norbo, I've had at least 3 people who have bought this combo off you asking me for help, so clearly they aren't working !, one chap is in the Netherlands, I've sent him an ignitech to get him going.......

Can you not return it to Norbo? Assuming of course that's where you purchased it.

Useful information :-
The PDCI-11V and PDCI-11VT can be used if you have a faulty stator with high or low speed running coils faulty, as it does not use these at all, as can an Ignitech unit.

Can you not return it to Norbo? Assuming of course that's where you purchased it. i have asked , but he wants me to swap the zeel for an ignitech , i want to keep the zeel and return or sell the PD , unfortunately i fitted the PD to the bike, i didn't hook it up but put the rec ,stator and flywheel on to find tdc and degree timing ready to wire up which i didn't , but now i guess it's classed as second hand , the unit is as new but i can understand the situation , i'm just a bit pissed that his site says they work together, iv'e spent a lot of money with him over the years and never had a problem, so if anyone would like to buy the PD at a lot cheaper price please let me know , i'm in OZ but will ship , cheers marty

You would more easily sell the zeeltronic over the PD. Maybe this thread needs putting to bed and a new "How To" install a PD thread opened up

Maybe this thread needs putting to bed and a new "How To" install a PD thread opened up for those that are keen but don`t have the experience to fit various bits and pieces. a "how to" section would be useful. assuming people have the time to write them up.
