Hi, received as spares with my 350 LC YPVS project, I received the pipes in the below picture, does anyone recognise them? I was told by the previous owner that they are Allspeeds? the cans look like they could be but not sure on the rest, particularly the down pipes, I also note how far forward they would mount.

I think your right they started of as speeds . the down pipes have been moded thats not as they come to fit a bike most likely or rusted threw and looks like they lost the end cap holding in the baffle and spring as thats been moded as well .

Looks tidy but misguided DIY, maybe an allspeed originally but not convinced ! and no defo OE pipe would have a header like that.

That's a hell of a bend to pass through

I was thinking they may have been very early allspeeds, almost development? It was probably soon realised that smooth curves were better for gas flow? Hence why you never see them made that way any more!

They look like they have been/modified/made for a TZ, it’s the only engine that would use something that short. An aggressive bend is then nescessary to get the belly in the right place but that’s just not the way to make something that would flow or resonate nicely.

I quite like them in a strange retro sort of way.
Love to see them fitted.

Original Pete Gibson pipes (ignore the pony hangers ) OEB Well there you have it. The reverse cones on these will give a very narrow and viscous powerband based on their angle. Jon

Well OEB’s appear to be a fairly different shape to mine, yet the fabrication style looks similar! Maybe mine were originally for a TZ? I will have to try them once I get the bike running, the curiosity in me wants to see what they do to the power. Doubt they would stay on for long though, the pipes currently fitted look much nicer & a more conventional shape.

OEB As I said OEB, those pipes will have a very narrow and viscous power band. I knew they were for racing, as that is where you have to keep a 2 stroke ‘on the boil’. TZ pipes were the obvious choice given the period. I doubt road Allspeeds were to this design. If they were perhaps that’s why the got the name of ‘no-speeds’? They would need a specific setup and riding style. Jon

Have you seen the power band on a 3G3.... power between 9k and 11.5K and the biggest grin there is to go with it.
