Thats really unlucky, typical of an insurance company to wriggle out of paying up.

Sorry to hear that Mr. K Went to quite a few lightening strikes over the years when I was in the Fire Service. Quite often ended up in a roof fire, so in a way you were lucky the house didn't go up. And brightside - If you had that Asgard metal shed it may have hit that and torched the bikes- that doesn't bare thinking about !! Dusty

"Act of god"...…..utter bollox!!!! I'm sure that crap has been through the courts. Well, ask the insurers to give evidence that it WAS an act of god..... In a sane world that would f**k their theory up...… But what the fook do I know, I'm not a shyster lawyer.... Glad you are both ok...its scary being that close....I know, been there twice!!!

My grandmas bungalow got hit many years ago, set the TV alight, she threw a bowl of water over it before unplugging it, she did the same when her chip pan went up in smoke, took me ages to clean the ceiling and repaint it, she was so lucky she never got burnt..
Surely they have to prove God exists to make a statement like that.
Worth looking into though, they could be trying their luck..

Sounds like bs to me, so how else is your house going to get damaged? Other than a car or truck ploughing into it, just about every other cause of damage would fall under that classification surely.
I work in aviation insurance and I can tell you lightning strikes are most certainly covered under those policies (you should see the damage it sometimes causes too).

Bloody insurance. Ages ago , I was sitting on the back steps and wifey at the bottom. Lightning struck our TV antenna about 5 metres away from us. Apart from the bang ,flash and the crackle etc, the TV, stereo and video was stuffed. Rang insurance and they told us that the only things with a motor in them was covered. I asked about the video player as it had a motor and they said that was a grey area.
Bloody hell. No cover at all. Needless to say we changed insurance companies . Bunch of poofters.

We just stared at each other saying the F word a fair bit. The wife doesn't like bad lightning storms but I do . Some people like to BASE jump. I prefer to hang the clothes out on the hills hoist in a storm. ha

Sh1tty as it is it could have been a lot worse
I spent all Saturday in the garage and thunderstorms were fore cast
It hit late afternoon. The rain was so bad our local Tesco's flooded. As for the thunder some of it was like a bomb going off.
I don't usually mind (quite enjoy it) but at one point I thought I need to get the feck out of here
Wasn't helped by the thought that I'd been using carb cleaner to clean and decoke a top end and now had a bin beside me full of kitchen roll and flammable liquid.
If it hadn't been a monsoon I'd have bailed (On thinking back if I'd turned into a human fireball this would have been welcome)
Any way a house up here got hit with the lightning and was destroyed. Guy didn't know till neighbours told him the roof was on fire
