Anyone mounted a Sat Nav on a 4LO LC? Got any pictures of where it's mounted? Looking at the handlebars/clocks, I'm trying to work out the best place for one to go, without causing any obstructions.

Well i am very well used to my zumo. Almost 10 years now. 40000km bike trips. Modern phones are not my best friend in navigating. I cant get used to google maps. Maybe there are better apps. And is it working offline? And is it possible to download a map for free? So you can route without a data connection?

What you see on my first picture is a drawer knob of 20cent. I used it because i use clipons and i wanted the zumo above my speedo.

Look at Waze app for mobile phones. Show real time traffic info, police reports etc.

Am I right in saying that you have the plate/ball in the link below that's bolted to the rear of the Garmin cradle for this set up to work? www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Genuine-RAM-MOUNT-RAM-B-347-1-Ball-for-Garmin-Zumo-TomTom-Rider/291673030194?hash=item43e9113e32:g:VTwAAOSwa-dWq~QFI've never had any dealings with Ram stuff, I gather that the ball they use is larger than the ball that comes with the Garmin windscreen mount? I measured mine at the weekend funny enough, I'm seeing 16.84mm. I'm wondering if drilling and tapping a steel ball bearing of that size onto a rod/mounting plate for the Garmin's car cradle to snap on/off to is a good idea/would work for a bike scenario??

Look at Waze app for mobile phones. Show real time traffic info, police reports etc. Using that could eat up a lot of your phone data I'm guessing??

Yes, thanks, I get that set up.
If my idea works, it would do away with the clamp on extension part too.

I thought it would and have allowed extra data for it, but never used more than 4GB in a month total, including playing some youtube videos while out. According to this website :- www.ridester.com/waze-vs-google-maps/...Waze uses about 0.5meg per hour of usage. 2 hours per meg, 2000hours per Gigabyte.

Waze / Google maps uses very little data. Now that data contracts can be used abroad (within the EU), there's little reason not to use it, although this might be going pear shaped soon..

Many map apps (!) will work offline, so wont use any data to run them, I have an app called "twisty ride" and you can download maps for most countries and use them home and abroad without having to use your data.
