So I sent the crank away to PJME for strip and check and they have come back and said it needs rods etc, so going to cost £310 quid. Is there any other way or any cheaper options? I think I've seen somebody selling cranks at sensible money but are they any good? At least I know if PJ do it it will be right and done correctly, but a big chunk of change I hadnt budgeted for, It ran sweet as so foolishly thought just mains and away i go Crank rebuild, rebore and a mild tune equals big bucks Phil

Thats interesting Steve, the quote is for rods and bearings, centre shaft and seals, and mains. So maybe Grampians are cheaper, would be a bit cheeky to get it back and send it to Grampians!

I always used PJME but they quoted me £95 to overhaul a fs1e crank a few months back. Grampian did it for £65 including return postage

The centre shaft may be pushing the price up
I posted one to Grampians this morning, they should have it Monday so I'll expect it rebuilt Tuesday and have it back in my hands Wednesday
I'll get back with the quote
Can't believe I was selling cranks still in spec for £50 last year and now I need another to rebuild for my next motor.

Steve That stuff happens to me. Sold a lot of spares for my LC thinking I would never get another one. Then presto, another LC.

+1 for Grampians.... very fast ,efficient and honest service...They have done a few for me , always a no fuss service...Although Paul at PJME has done cranks and bores for me in the past..with no problems...only started using Grampians as they had a remarkably fast turnaround when I needed a race crank doing..! And kind of stuck with them...!

I think you are all very cheeky talking about crank reconditioning on Norbos forum when he offers a new and an exchange service at very competitive prices

Don't think we are being cheeky, he asked for options which we gave
As it turns out mine is fecked
Inner webs knackered so ended up at £315 posted
I've spoke to norbs about cranks before and he says this is the problem, he exchanges at 220 then gets robbed on the next one
Wouldn't send one unless I knew I'd was good for straight rebuild
Surprised the pins and outer webs were all ok as it was as sloppy as an old tart.
