Anyone found a way to increase the comfort of a 4LO seat? Even if these 30+ year old bikes came with an unused seat, I guess that the foam a 2018 bike has is different?
Some years ago I did take a Honda seat apart and fit medical grade gel insert pads, they certainly improved things.
Upholstery work is certainly tricky to get perfect, anyone recommend a specialist who could do this job?

Norbo sells seat foam.
Try Tony Archer for seat work. He did my Honda X11 seat. Changed the type of foam and fitted gel as well then recovered it.

tonyarcher.co.uk/Unit 7d, Bradley Mills, Huddersfield Price depends on what you want doing, changing foam densities and different size and quality gel pads. Best to give him a call and talk it over. I know others on hear have used him as well as me. Very happy with his quality.

The problem for most of us at our sort of age is lack of muscle on the butt.

Lol I were on the LC for about half an hour when it felt like the foam had gone to nothing, these LC's were never meant to be a touring bike, fair enough but I'd like to be able to go a bit further than that.

Fooking hell... If an LC seat is causing discomfort it's a Shackletons high seat chair for you!

Fooking hell... If an LC seat is causing discomfort it's a Shackletons high seat chair for you! The fact that I've owned large touring bikes such as the Goldwing for many years, makes most other bike seats seem inadequate I guess.

If it was a cycle seat I could understand, Christ them things are like razor blades... I remove as much foam as poss from bike seats as I'm a short arse. Did toy with the idea of incorporating some of that specialist gel into a seat after removal of most of the foam. I did shape what's left of my hornets seat foam with files to custom fit what was left....its ok and a good compromise as I can reach the fookin ground now!

Interesting.
I have two YPVS seats, and the foam is vastly different between the two.
I thought at first just variation, but although both advertised as F2 seats when I bought them off eBay; I’m beginning to wonder if one is a 350R one?

Jon I think it's just aging of the foam which will be affected by use and the environment it was used in Foam goes 2 ways Either going hard which makes them like a brick or losing its structural integrity and going too soft Steve

I had one from ebay, a UK seller who also has a website so a proper shop i guess. But you could also buy from Norbo etc Any modern foam will be better than a rotten soft old one.

When I got my LC on the road about 2009, the seat felt like I was sitting on an ironing board ! The width I'm talking about, my hips were protesting
I'd been riding a Buell several years to that though and that is the complete opposite as in a bicycle seat LOL

Just had my seat recovered by a bloke at Sussex Motorcycles, did a decent job. He works out of a barn and is a but if a character, but seemed to have loads of people queuing up to have them seats done while they waited. I believe he does memory foam insets.
