Did anybody see the Allspeeds that were on ebay, ran out today, sold for 830 quid!! now I'm sure the seller was very happy but are they really worth 830 quid! They did look in very good nick but still, I didn't think Allspeeds were a very good pipe? or have i got that wrong?

Pointless when you can buy new for much less, and yes Gibson's are not original allspeeds, but are the same design, and aside from being the best looking pipe IMHO, not exactly the best power pipe, which for £800 I'd want.

Apparently they were Gibson Allspeeds manufactured within the last 10 years.

A case of misrepresentation then? Why would anyone pay that much for genuine old school pipes is one thing, but for them to be copies, that stinks.

Having just sen the pics you can tell they aren’t 80’s. Cans just look totally sanitised !
As for why people pay strong money for old stuff IMO is just down to that authenticity thing, doesn’t matter that they are all noise and no performance , if they were what was fitted back in the day and now NLA due to noise regs etc then they are always going to be collectible.
It’s more noticeable on aircooled RDs , period pipes just look the part. A ‘GP’ pipe looks great on a special but can cause visual conflict on otherwise stock bike.
All that said you still have to be bonkers to pay that sort of money for a set of aftermarket . Can only assume the winner just bought a set of 2R9 pipes for a 400E and thought 800 was cheap !

In that case someone got properly tugged ! Confirmed by Tony at Gibsons. OEB Didn’t the originals only have a single tube at the downpipe on the exhaust? These quite clearly have two to reduce drips. The eBay description is clearly inaccurate. Sad thing is does the buyer even realise? Jon

I also thought they had the words ‘genuine allspeeds’ stamped into them. I don’t see that in the photos?

Yes should have genuine all speed and no non drip header
The Gibson pipes are more angular
The originals had some curves in them if you know what I mean

I hope the buyer is not reading this thread. Will be absolutely gutted if that is the case. Nostalga got the better of the rational thought process here i think. I am not an ebay user at all because of this situation. Could a dispute be taken against the seller for mis representation on the advert?

Item is not as described.

I’d suggest their mates bid them up and every chance that they will be back for sale in a few weeks
However I may be wrong 😁

No doubt the seller and mutual/mate buyer will agree to cancel the transaction to save any sellers fees. Back on again in a few weeks no doubt.
