new washers are cheap, about 46 cents from the USA as a honda part fits our drain bolts.

I always used those metal washers with the integral rubber seal. Reusable loads of times. Halfords have them.

I can't remember the size, it was a while back and I don't ride or own a bike anymore.

The Yamaha washer for the sump plug is over £6 !! Get the Honda part- same fit and works perfectly. Fowlers stock them - last time I bought one it was 59p. Part number 94109 14000. Dusty

You can heat your copper washer up until it's cherry red and quench it in water or just clean the parts and use a drop of Loctite 542

Hold on, the ad is not for a re-useable sump plug *washer*, its for a re-useable sump plug.....as if the original item must be thrown away after use..!
As for the washers, a pack is handy and costs a few quid from eBay, making each one a few pence..

Small point :-) It' the Transmission oil we are fitting a plug to... NOT the engine. How often does the Trans oil need changing? Not very often at all IF one follows Yamas schedules

Not very often at all IF one follows Yamas schedules I've just been looking for the scheduled oil change in the Haynes manual, it's listed under the 3 monthly/2000 miles section. That's more often/sooner than I thought,....is that right??

It can also be found listed on page 20, within that whole chart/diagram,...the print is rather small.

There is no oil filter so if it's used and abused all your small clutch plate particles and other worn particles keep circulating in the oil until they settle in the bottom of the engine
