Sorry for going over old ground, i have read a few of the clutch adjustment threads and i just need to clarify a few things. 1/ Where it says in the manual to set the clutch cable so that the clutch actuating lever aligns with the index mark on the casings, i take it means the pointy out bit in the photo, if that's correct then i don't have enough adjustment in the cable, i have purchased a replacement cable from Norbo (see photo) so it's not down to the cable being stretched and the clutch arm is new. 2/ If i take all the adjustment out of the cable and set the clutch up like that, then pull the lever in the actuating lever lines up with the mark (don't think that's how it's meant to be done though) when adjusting the clutch centre screw it says to back it off a quarter of a turn, once done you have a little free play in the centre screw and nut, which i believe is correct? when i take up any slack in the cable that free play goes, i believe your meant to have the free play so there's no constant friction on the ball bearing and pusher rod, is this correct? PS i should have cleaned that carb before fitting it. PICT2686 by Anthony Baker, on Flickr PICT2688 by Anthony Baker, on Flickr Many Thanks Tony

Hi Tony
Loosen off the cable Push the actuating arm by hand towards the pointer until it stops Hold against the stop whilst adjusting the center bolt until the two pointers align Hold the center bolt with screwdriver while locking the nut Adjust the clutch cable to take up the slack but leave a little free play
If the cable is still too loose add an extra adjuster where it clamps on the casing under the carbs Alternatively get a nos cable

Have you got the correct clutch perch at the handlebar side for the LC2? I haven't seen any pictures of the whole bike so don't know, but the perch can also affect the cable length........

As above
An lc2 cable will only be correct with an lc2 perch
The distance from the adjuster to the nipple locating point on the lever is different

Well that’s not the correct clutch perch for an LC2, so that is most likely the cause, you can always get a replacement cable made up by Mutts or get the correct perch and go from there.

Find and Buy a Genuine Yama Clutch cable From a Newer Yama I fitted one from an early R6(?) Yes it's a bit longer and took a bit of thought/effort to route it decently. But.. The inner kept Falling out of the sleeve during install attempts. Yup! that slippery :-) Also the moderne Yama Clutch cables have a Threaded Clutch end fitting as well. 2 Advantages: Double the adjustment range A Capable cable mounting. One can bin the Silly spring cable end hold down Bodge foisted onto Valvies Open up the case boss a wee bit and the threaded Cable end can be bolted in solidly. Yer welcome
