I've sold my Harley, that I know some of you really liked, and gone for a Triumph Tiger 800 XRx Early days, only done 100 miles back from the dealer. Lightweight and so easy to ride. Little 800 triple feels like it has no flywheel at all, revs rise & fall really quickly. Seems to handle OK, damp & new rear tyre haven't seen me pushing it hard yet. Nothing like the HDs stomp out of corners, but keep the revs up a bit and it certainly goes.

had a tiger 800 didn't like it, really top heavy, I used to use mine offroad, and when I gave it the beans (mid wales) lucky if I got 25mpg even on a run I would struggle to get 40mpg, be interested to see how the later versions fair, my hack now is a bmw f800gs and its a brilliant bit of kit for a tractor

The first version in the 1990's? Were a 900 wasn't it? I rode a mates one briefly, huge tank, sure was top heavy, soaked up the pot holes well.
The following versions all look small and lighter to me.

Compared to my HD it's a lightweight.
On the run back from the dealer, mainly motorway & dual cabbageway it averaged 55MPG, according to the on board computer. It's the first of the fly by wire ones, supposed to be much better than the original fuel injection. I was looking for one as they are reputed to be 15% more economical.
It's not going off road, not even a little bit. XT225 for that sort of thing.

In the picture it's on it's lowest setting, which suits me at 5'10" and 30" inside leg. <edit> Oh and it's an XR - the Xc version has a 21" front wheel - this is 19", so that helps a bit as well. There is a XRx-Low version that I think uses different dog bones to lower the suspension a bit.

I love big 4T's like that, especially the ones that look as if Medusa/Squid/Octopus is trying to eat it. I also like the reuse of the melted wheelie bin as a fuel tank with some other random bits slapped on the front :-) Not really my cup of tea, but I'm sure it's a great bike.
