I use 8 or 9 never really noticed any great difference , none resistor type with rubber caps , sick of those Ngk plastic ones breaking.

+1 on the non resistor type, the Haynes manual only states the '8'so I've stuck with that.

Make sure you get a real one. More fakes than genuine out there. There is a Youtube video of it...the boxes are different

I use 9s as they run a little bit cooler.

gives a slightly better spark as no resistor for the electricity to go through (6ohms less normally), plus if you are using resistor caps and plugs, that can add up to 10+ohms, which is a lot of energy being wasted. We don't need resistor plugs or caps these days, we had them back in the day as the signal from the spark plugs interferred with the old analogue radios and TV's, no such problem these days

Slightly off topic to this but when 1 knackered cap was swapped on the dyno session on my 500, the trace became much smoother and the bike gained 1.5bhp...
I also have short can allspeeds on my 350 and followed some here Dave put up yonks ago, removed the snorkel and upjetted it, ran much better...still on the standard plugs thou(8s)

I ordered B9ES and NGK LZFH NON Resistor Spark Plug Caps.So have you removed the snorkel exiting the airbox and what carbs are you using.I am running mine on 31K carbs great advice from stan stevens when I picked up my rebuilt engine they virtually eliminate that flat spot The 4LO carbs had.If you bought classic motorcycle meachanics mag november 2017 you will see a full 2 page article on my Elsie restoration.

Johnny (nice Mad Max name lol) I've been looking for those plug caps and they all state they are for old British bikes. And they are all black! Is the NGK code correct? If so where did you get yours from?
Cheers, Alex.

Not sure what normal life expectancy is with 2t bikes. But I just removed my 8's after about 4000 km's. They still look that good that I put them in my project bike to run it in with. Were to good to turf out.

I’ve got some leads with integrated caps you could use, (actually I have about 300 sets of various types at my place...don’t ask !) not perfect but would do the trick...so check with your mates before you go buying stuff! otherwise the black screw on NGK caps are very useful.
