Aggravated burglary entered the property with a weapon, attacked the pensioner who killed him. Self defence an account could of and probably should of been taken on a voluntary basis after caution, Cps unlikely to prosecute, evidence secured by questioning and sealing the scene. However we don't know the full circumstances but it does look like yet again dibble shot themselves in the foot. They sure as shit wouldn't have attended if there had been no occupants in and it was just classed as a burglary dwelling. Doubt even soco would attend these days.

I personally think, if somebody is prepared to enter your home forcefully by breaking in, they should accept any consequences thereafter and forfeit there rights as a law abiding citizen. He got what he deserved, feel sorry for the old guy. Survived WW2 and gets treated like this.

When I was in the Fire Service, my station ground was unusual in the fact it was Surrey Fire and Rescue but Policed by the Met as we bordered a London borough. We worked with the Met a lot over the years, and we found them to be dependable, good coppers, willing to deal with the shitbags we came into regular contact with. As the years went by, they found their hands tied more and more with red tape and do gooders undermining their ability to deal with life's ars*holes. Then we had a change in border, and Surrey Police took over. That was even worst, and they really were incapable of dealing with the scumbags ! Most coppers I met thought exactly the same way we do, but their job, and the laws of the land mean that what they would like to do, and what they must do are 2 totally different things. There is good and bad in all of course, but I can remember a good few occasions back in the 80's and early 90's when I was really pleased to see the Met Police turn up and kick some scumbags arse And I remember one conversation many years ago. An exasperated copper telling us that there was 47 charities that were dedicated to reforming and helping convicted criminals, but only 3 charities that were dedicated to helping the victims of crime !! Glad the pensioner got one of them. Shame the other got away. Dusty

The guy should be given some sort of medal/award for it. I notice the media are quick to print name/photos/life story of the old guy, but not a mention of the dirtbag who met his deserved end.... Shame the other one got away.

Dibbles own goal is now looking even more of an sad indictment of its present policies, now there are more details emerging............ I have a serving relative and the frustration is not confined to the public. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-43676359And millions sigh..."I should f**king think so!"...only to be ignored by the lawmakers yet again........
