Hi, just fired the bike up ready for it’s MOT, charged the battery and rode it which was all good but... 1 the power valve servo is ticking when I turn the ignition on, it does it’s open and close thing, then ticks, I took off the tank tried it again and it seems okay, but it’s intermittent now, does that mean the battery is dicky or the servo ? 2 Rev counter not working, I took it off as I had to change the surround and now it’s just dead, could this be connected to the above? There are only the 3 wires to the Rev counter, does this look right? pic below

Check the battery first
Starting without a battery can fry the rev counter
Both the rev counter and the servo use the black/yellow wire ( grey at rev counter) that goes between the cdi and pv controller

The battery is fine, I took it off and left it on charge overnight and the power valve servo just does it’s self check and all is okay, but the Rev counter still isn’t working. Ive tried another which doesn’t work either but I dont knowmif it ever did.
I’ve checked the wires and there is a voltage/signal coming on the grey wire that varies with the revs so I’m guessing that’s okay.
The Manual says there should be a black, brown and grey but the brown (br) seems to be orange but I don’t think that matters.
Does anyone have an n2f2 Rev counter that definitely works that I could buy/borrow, I live in Twickenham if someone is nearby...
Does anyone repair these? Can’t see any on eBay and I’ll never know if it actually works...

Check that you have 12v and ground at the tacho. The 12v should be brown and the ground will be black. An orange wire usually goes to the ignition coil so if that has been used it may have knackered the tacho.
