i bought this bike in 07 as a back up for my sprint st. it was used and abused before i got her i pretty much just kept doing the same [/urli was out riding my rz sunday practicing my corners then monday on my way to work then this happened i got pretty busted up and for a long time thought i wouldnt be able to ride again i sold my atvs and sprint but held onto the rz and my old cr480 after getting onto a friends bike i was hooked again bought an old harley so id ride slow and relax my friend was riding my rz and went into a round-a-bout too hot and under skilled and dumped it i rode her home into the shed and only fired it up a few times here and there and ignored all the offers to sell a friend passed and his family gave me his bike, he hadnt rode it since my accident, getting it back to running rekindled my interest in working on bikes. so out the rz came

i lost my cheat sheet from the previous owner and had to investigate the sources of the hybrid bits. so i measured everything and spent alot of time online at night. 94 kawasaki zx9-r forks, trees, clip-ons, 17"x3.5" wheel, and brakes. rust on stanchions. unknown springs. seized calipers. leaking master cylinder 93 suzuki gsxr swinger, caliper, and a fox twin clicker. custom shock linkage 94 suzuki rf600r 17"x4.5" wheel the ignition switch was crammed into the top tree and held in by 1 bolt the tail light was made from a stock housing and 2 trailer lights and glued together all hoses were cracking and oil tank was clogged ypvs was jammed so i yanked it all apart

got myself a cheap banshee stator plate, milled and tweaked it. maybe next year ill do a zeeltronic tarozzi rear sets, combination of parts from my h2 and what was on the bike junked that odd adapter and went back to stock mount for rear m/c swingarm guard before now, i think previous owner forgot it and did that to wedge it in funny now it has a chain guard, i was threatened with a failing mark on my motorcycle license road test because it didnt have one

before powder coating i made a new steering stop. i morphed into a steering stabilizer mount for a ohlins. also modded the ignition switch to fit kawi trees steering locks might not be a real deterrent but its there it should work a bit stone age but it works. i swear all welds were cleaned and redone. pic taken in winter and i have no heat in garage. also, fun fact all 3 pieces are made from lawn mower blade

sorry for the delay, ran into a few problems, need a new clutch basket, the fork tubes leak at the lower axle and caliper holders/knuckles, put in a new patio, plus saving up to get married... toy problems still more fun then adult problems. i sold some stuff and i'm back at it now. that is the rear shock reservoir you see, it'll be on the left side now. rebuilt fox shock has replaced the chunk of wood which occupied its perch. works much better now. clutch rubber biscuits are shot and 3 fingers on the basket were broken and welded back on. someone did a good job it always worked fine before storage. everything else is up to spec so i'm looking for a basket soon. thanks for the complements

Wow!
Are those the new Toomey pipes?

They are Toomey pipes. I bought them new, but 2nd hand about two years ago. I had my eye on other styles but these looked great and I couldn't beat the price, plus they were local(no shipping!). Also came with the battery box, jet kit and foam 2 into 1 filter. I'm not sure when they released this style, but they are no longer listing rz parts on the web site.
The bike had old school Toomey pipes when I bought it, same battery box but a K&N 2 into 1 filter. The old pipes are banged up so I just polished up and repacked the aluminum silencers as back ups

Well she's alive! Clocked a few miles shake down, I'm all smiles! After days fighting with the carbs I trashed the Toomey needles and went back to the ones I removed and it made a night and day difference. With the Toomey needles I couldn't make it to the end of the driveway, it'd bog, act like it was out of fuel or straight up stall. Toomey new style chambers, 2into1 air cleaner boot and foam filter, VM26 carbs, V-Force 4 reeds, stock timing on adjustable plate, NGK BR8ES plugs, Dyna mini coil and repro CDI box. 21cc cool head, Wiseco +.25 pistons Current set up is 020 pilots, 420 mains with unidentified needles, 4th groove with washer under. Currently 1 turn out on air screws. Floats verified at 21mm. 89 octane(all I had sitting around) Starts first kick like it used to, and I can still start it by hand. Patched up my old tank for the shake down runs. Installed Pro Grip 699 Superbike grips(my favorite), and a new pair of Napoleon bar end mirrors. Also replaced the new rear master cylinder. I bought a repro off of eBay and it sucked. The input from the reservoir didn't even have an o-ring, no wonder it leaked. Went with a new Yamaha master. I had to shorten the plunger input shaft. I'll post a pic of the needles. The Toomey needles is on the right.

Working on pic Multiple tanks of gas ran through so far. Tuning getting close enough for me. Speedo is about 1 mph off. So pretty good. Fzr Tach is working well and all idiot lights work. All electrical systems are go,..... after sorting a few issues. Replaced both dead brake light switches. Most it takes is 3 kicks to start so far Handles awesome, ride is sporty. Brakes are awesome. Paint is peel coat and tank is epoxied original just having fun with it now

So a question for you guys. I've got a new Yamaha key chain/tether. But I've only ever riden this bike with the original tether it came with, and I never went down. How do you feel about lucky charms? Also it's a floating boat tether.
I crashed my rocket 3 the day after removing decals from it that a previous owner placed.
I kept the PO's gremlin bell on the Harley, and the key chain intact on the SV. And I'm riding the rz with both flapping around
Guess I'm superstitious to make changes. But I hate to believe in such things
