What's the threaded hole that's right next to the seat/helmet lock on a 4LO for? It's location matches up with the lifting handle that's fitted on the left hand side of the bike, although there isn't another handle fixing point on the right hand side seat frame. Anyone know what that hole was meant to take?

Good question, wondered myself after looking at a stripped frame the last few weeks, probably something obvious, but didn't know why it was threaded. I'd just assumed it was some sort of alignment

Is your inner muddy fitted? Bike in picture isn't mine, mine does have a full length rear mudguard,....not sure what you mean by 'inner' though, I didn't think that 80's bikes went overboard with such plastic parts??

The mudguard is in two half’s the inner has the shock through it ,the rear has the number plate and rear light,it is bolted to the frame maybe it’s a hole for securing the muddy it’s too cold to go and look at mine maybe tomorrow

There's nothing fitted to the threaded hole on the right side of the frame. You can just about see in this pic next to the seat lock.

Possibly for a genuine yamaha rack, the holes are nearly in line with the grab rail mounting bolts so a rack would maybe use three bolts either side. Never seen one though.

some LCs had straps over the seat it might be where it was fixed

no, not the strap. The straps are all part of the seat, we had them here. They use the hole drilled in the seat latch tang and use a bolt through the seat. We had straps on lots of the seats here even on the ypvs models. Two NOS seats (YPVS) I bought last year:

I have seen a pic of the OEM rack in a Japanese book, it doesnt use those threaded holes, its like the ypvs rack in that it basically is the grab handle with the rack part welded on.

I were looking at one of those on ebay a few months ago funny enough, not sure that it would fit a 4LO, I were thinking that only the 4 mounting points around the grab handle were used. Boy, isn't that an ugly thing to be adding to an LC though,...maybe it does go to that hole and the lift handle one too??

That's the same rack previously fitted to mine which i removed and sold on fleabay last year, after just seeing a picture of it now i remember the rack and it did use that bolt hole.
