Hi Guys, anybody got any experience of the K-tec pipes, I've been offered one of the 2-1 pipes brand new in the box for very little money, I can only guess that it'll not be the best performing pipe but its is different! Its cheap enough to fancy trying it just because it is different but I don't want to make the bike last 5 mins after all the effort to rebuild it. I had a GT750 with the Dunstall 3-1 it sounded awesome but didn't go very well Phil

Very cheap kit from what ive seen and that defo wont peform well. Glynn (Slinger) on the RDRZ500 forum made a pipe to that design a few years back to see what it would be like, im sure you could locate the thread, but Im sure that this will perform worse than his as he made good pipes back in the day.

I can’t say they’ll be crap because I’ve not seen the detail, but I think it’s pretty tricky to tune 2-1 pipes on a 2 stroke engine. The Moto GP 500s always had separate spannies; if 2:1 was possible they’d have done it to save weight…

They would be difficult to check the jetting with on a dyno, as you can only put the gas sniffer in one hole...... One cylinder may be lean and the other rich and it would look okay.....

Was there with the Dyno test of Slinger's 2 into 1 pipe It sure as hell looked a lot more trick than that "thing". Also only made low 60's hp... along with a noise to wake the dead. Buy Cheap.. Buy twice, or If dim.. repeatedly.

Does sound nice, but then so did my Kettle! actually the Kettle was too loud. mixed opinions on here, I guess only I can decide. A set of decent cans sounds good too, so maybe keep saving.

Yea if we were all the same we'd be robots .....
Individuality is to be applauded, so what if it won't make the most power, want a fast bike then a smelly old two stroke wouldn't be the first choice, you like it then that's enough reason......

Have to say, it doesn't sound any different to separate pipes to my ears, but then maybe I'm going deaf in me old age! ....and you know what they say Personally, I wouldn't bother.

Thats a fair point Norbo. One thing the importer of the bike video I posted did say was that the bike needed another exhaust to be legal here. Listening to both videos I think that was about the noise level more than anything, these pipes do seem very loud. I, not thinking there is enough silencing in a single silencer perhaps?

I wanted one of slingers just to be different but he wasn't interested in making it as it didn't perform well enough
It looked like a really beefy pipe with a large stinger and a Y in the header
Thought it would look good with a nana arm

As far as noise i would not worry about that have you heard some of the 421's out there and the bigger ones they are way louder

so are all the K2Tec pipes rubbish?
I've been looking at the twin ones they have for street use and pondering

The pipes for the RD350lc or ypvs will give approx the same performance as allspeeds.

The pipes for the RD350lc or ypvs will give approx the same performance as allspeeds. If that's the case then they're not too bad a choice if you want the look of a 2-1. Personally i'll stick with my pair of Kennys pipes David

I'm looking into getting it, I need to ship home from Europe so it depends how much that costs. knowing my luck it'll be more expensive than the pipe.
