Hi all I was just after your opinion as to how much the rd 500 on eBay is worth with no engine regards Bruce

Just remember an engine will be £2.5k plus if you can find one then if it needs a rebuild another £1k plus

I think its got to its max unless someone has more money than sense. If you can find an engine then you will be lucky. Budget on £2k - £2.5k for a rebuild if your going to farm the work out. It looks like it needs a total rebuild anyway to make a decent bike.

Also worth bearing in mind that any replacement engine wouldn’t give you a matching numbers bike at the end of the day.

If he's got any brains he'd list the engine the next day at a premium

The people bidding on it probably have a engine or two to hand anyway, a really ropey, none matching numbers imported 500 sold for over 10k just last week.. but it is eBay so the price goes up and down without any rhyme or reason week to week so who knows..

Looked at that one myself but know from experience it's the little bits that are missing which add up. Big lumps are usually the (relatively) cheap parts and you never know what's missing

Eighteen bids the last time it was listed, all placed on the first day. Seller said there was no buy-it-now and the winning bidder would get the bike. Looks odd that he still owns it and has it for sale again but the 'new' bidders aren't the same ones as last time so maybe his mates aren't bidding it up this time round
