Hi guys, so my 31K is on 1.00mm over and I think I need to bore it as everything else is being done, from what I can find it looks like I have to go 1.50 over, cant find 1.25, so my questions are, what are the best pistons to get and who could do a little bit of light tuning on the barrels? don't want to go too mad but a bit more oomph when she get on the power would be good, I'm not as light as I used to be , with a bit of luck the same person can do the porting and rebores. Thanks, Phil

Japanese Mitakas are a good piston. I thought they went up in .25 increments ?? Paul at PJME can advise. You don't want to go bigger than you have to. And Mick Abbey has a good reputation for tuning these - a few guys here have used Mick's services in the past with good results. Are you running decent pipes too ? Dusty

The bike has allspeeds on it at the moment, ones pretty tatty so I'm thinking about getting a pair of Norbo's pipes to use. I'd like to find another Allspeed so I can keep these too, they are at least road legal.

I’ve just swapped my lomas allspeed copies for a set of Kenny’s pipes, it’s like riding a completely different bike, loads better. Jess

Consider a Zeel ? It gives same or more power than a set of 'decent' (not all are) pipes does. Even on oem portings :-)

I've seen mention of the Zeel, so its still available to buy? maybe thats the way to go. Im sure Mick won't be doing his works quickly so a Zeel now that look for another set of barrels to modify.

Phil Norbo sells different Zeeltronic units as well as programmers and data cables too .. about one-third down this page .. www.microdaddy.co.uk/norbo/html/for%20sale%208%20ypvs%20trick%20bits%20page.htm

I think a good set of pipes with well proven performance gains are a good option, especially as you are looking at money spending on pipes anyway. Muttsnuts' pipes give great results, as do TSA's. I love Allspeeds but they are not known for big performance gains. Plus good pipes are a simple bolt on fix. A Zeel would be a great addition, and even newer coils improve performance - not necessarily with big gains but the sharper response they give over old coils. And get your bores inspected by a reputable firm - they will tell you if they need doing and how much needs boring out - best to get the piston supplier to do the rebore for you to save on any issues. As Dusty rightly points out, do not buy pistons on the assumption that they are what you require, send the barrels off to get them checked and then go from there, sometimes they will need more than a 0.25mm rebore to clean up the whole bore. If you can get everything done by one place too that will save on shipping and costs generally.

Thanks guys, all makes sense! the bores look ok but seems a lot of movement to me so will get them checked before deciding which size to go. The pipes Norbo was advertising a while back, the "race pipes" as he called them, are they the ones people refer to as Kennys?

Kenny is TSA, and a member on here. I've got a pair of his stainless mid range pipes on my orange bike. There are so many different pipes available for our bikes now - possibly more than ever !! It all comes down to cost/looks/performance/availability as to which you choose, and also how you intend to ride the bike. A race pipe may deliver it's best much higher up the rev range than a mid range orientated pipe, which is great if you ride everywhere at max throttle. All depends on what you want really. I still think small can Allspeeds look great on an Lc/pv, but don't offer huge performance gains over stock, and are still reasonably heavy compared to new designs. Look at the Pipe pic thread if looks are your main driver - lots in there Dusty

I sent my fahron 370 topend to pjme for inspection thinking they looked ok ish . On inspection they had to go from standard to +1mm to clean up so best get them checked out Dave

Just get Mick to rebore your cylinders while he has them for tuning, saves sending them to different places. He can then order the correct size pistons for the job.
Then fit pipes to suit your tune, Zeeltronic and fit some better carbs. V force reeds and new coils. Then rebuild and take it for a Dyno setup.
