Pardon my ignorance, but does anyone know if the carb slides are the same across the Aircooled/LC range?, i.e. 250/350/400, presuming they all use the VM26 carb?. I’m in need of a pair of carb slides for my 350, tried the wanted section to no avail, so thought I’d widen the search criteria if the A/C slides were viable.
Thanks in advance bezzer.

I have been told that the cutaway in the slide can be different in theA/C carbs, but you can check this by looking at the marking on the underneath of the slide.
I have changed carbs in the past and never changed the top part so, screw top, spring and slide stay and i have just changed the bodies. this was for 4L0 01 and 31K carbs

I can’t say for the entire AC range, as I am not familiar with them. However I do have a set of RD250 carbs to compare. From memory they are totally different. Larger diameter and possibly shorter. I think they are 28mm too. Jon

Jon Thanks Jon, That would seem conclusive they are NOT interchangeable then, I appreciate your input, thanks too to Tobyjugs, I’ll have a look at the numbers under my 250lc’s slides and try to trace some that way. Thanks again for the replies/input lads. ATB bezzer

If you source 31K slides, make sure you get the cable clips, as they are not compatible with 4L0/4L1 clips.

To be honest no-one seems to want to part with any 4L0 ones, so finding 31K slides will be even more of a challenge I reckon ☹️ Cheers bezzer

Thanks lads, The A/C diameter is as Jon states larger then?. I’ll stick to 4L0/31K slides for my search then, unless the DT125/175MX uses VM26 carb?……

DT125 uses a VM24 (10v) from what I remember.

As I thought. They are parallel too, unlike the tapered LC and YPVS ones. Jon

A/C slides are completely different, suitable slides for 4L0 are 4L1, 4L2, 31k, 1UA, 1WT, 3GG from memory, as you say, hard to find these days, I use to have loads, but sadly used them all fixing peoples carbs, stuck for a pair myself at the moment, you can still buy them new, but at £35 to £40 each, its a little off putting !!
You need to make sure the cutout is 2.0 and not 2.5 as well, its stamped underneath the slide
