With the LC nearing completion, I happily came across this on the Swedish Gumtree. My brother who lives there collected it for me yesterday. Decent price too. Only downside is the dent in the tank. Any idea if this might be repairable? It came with a spare tank but it has a different, recessed fuel cap which I am not wild about.

Had being the operative word...
Not quite. A strimmer, stored hanging from the sellers garage ceiling, fell and hit the tank... Doh!

It’s metal so it can be repaired. The question is it worth the time and or cost.

Wonder what the rider’s plums look like after doing that to the tank? 😳

That looks a great find If the tank is good and solid, get it repaired. A solid tank is worth the effort. I love the Lc2 and that will make a great project Enjoy Dusty

I wouldn't do a full restore, I am not fussed on bikes looking brand new I would prefer a nice rideable rd, looks really tiday go through it, pull the carbs do the oil battery brakes chain sprockets see if it fires

Exactly what I thought Strange too that there isn't broken paint at the impact point. Must have hit on the tank pad Nice find though, has anybody noticed I'm partial to an lc2 😂 I'd check the rear frame rails, may just be the panels but tail, sides and seat don't line up. I'd love to see the other tank cap, have thought about a flush cap before so interested in what you have Steve

It was a fully fuelled, petrol engined heavy duty strimmer apparently. It starts and runs so I may just ride it for a while before a gentle restoration. No plans for a hybrid though. Here is a pic of the spare tank with the flush cap.

That other tank looks like an 86-on version and wont fit the LC2 without a lot of mods. look underneath, if it is a 'mostly flat' with fixings for bolting on then its 86-on, if you look at the LC2 its more like the LC and has a 'tunnel'. If its 86-on and you want to sell it i have a mate who needs one for is build.
how long has it been off the road and unstarted? dont run it a lot if its been a while, the crank seals will be toast and kill the motor.

Thanks for the info. The tank (and the bike) are still at my brother's place in Sweden as, for some reason, he is being unreasonable and has not yet agreed to come visit and bring the bike.
If it is the later tank I may well sell it to get some cash towards the repair of the original one.
The previous owner said the bike was started and run regularly so should be ok, although I will probably end up rebuilding it.

if you do decide to sell the tank do let me know, I can pass on the details of my mate to you. he is a forumer here but has been working night shifts so not seen this thread yet.
Good luck with the project, excited to see it being recommissioned.
