Hello, to complete my site with new information, I would like to add some VIN plate picture to figure if they are different by countries in Europe (appart the serial number) and to have a worlwide view with Brazilian one (2UA, 4CE6...) Plate are in Germand and French language in France but I don't know if in Europe it's always like that. Could you send me picture of your plates ? you can erase the last 2-3 digits of the serial number if you feel it a secret information but I don't see the risk (here in France at least). Please give the bike country and the first registration date My 4L0 '80: 31K from Italian certification document; DGM 51155 is the reference to the certification file like this one: www.rd350lc.net/31KcertificationFileItaly.pdfMy 3DH1 '89 I'm interested as well by the stickers picture refering to the certification file too: Thank you Xavier

Part joke part information...
As maybe you know there are no VIN plates on UK bikes so no holes for rivets in the headstock. Consequently no picture available ....😀 Anyway if you build a library you need to include a comment to say not fitted etc on Uk bikes.

No worries Xavier.
Steve, I think it comes from Japan but wasnt quite what was promised or what was said in a meeting. Who ever at Yamaha created the ADR listing did so early on and perhaps had been told it was a model with an R suffix. Later we got the RZ250R dont forget, another japanese model etc.
FWIW, my 1982 250 (5E1) models only say 'RD 250', my 81 350 is an 'R', I dont know if 82 350s are non R's or if 81 250s are...

Xavier,
ALL YPVS registered in the UK have a registration plate... It's fitted on the Right Hand side frame rail under the tanks just like other countries. I think some people are getting confused with plates fitted to the headstock, which we didn't have.
All of my YPVS have a VIN plate.

We had those here on F models, but all others (evn the N's i think tho ive not got one of those) have their compliance plate on the headstock.

Cool ta Steve, Im sure the UK LC2 didnt have it on the side, they wouldnt have had an idea yet about needing to put it there of course, no F models until 84 in Japan.
Phil, which country? The thread covers UK, EU and Aus so far....

Xavier, All of my YPVS have a VIN plate. Do you have a UK lc2? Steve Hi Steve, No, I don't have an LC2 and from looking at the pics, you're quite right, they don't seem to have them. Confusingly, my friend back in the day had one on his LC2 and one that I bought at Kempton in 2016 was LC2 but had a plate.. I've scrapped the frame now due to rust but interested in its history now....

I have checked on my '84 LC2 (31K - 029013) and like on the 4L0 plate is on the headstock with similar color: aluminium.
So I guess it's the same in UK and in Europe in general.

Hi Xavier, yes thats a IXH plate - ie 250, the 350 may or may not say RD350 in 88, we need to see pictures of them to prove that. Ok, our 250s from 86/87/88 all were 1XH. From what ive seen it went like this: In 86 we had a single model F2 that was white with red decals, but only for one year as in 87/88 they were a new single model that was blue. These 87/88s were N2 with a fibreglass fairings with round headlights. There are photos on here that ive linked before of these models. I dont think we had any naked N2s, Ive never seen one that wasnta n import. All our 86-88 models came with a side plate like on the F1, all previous models were on the headstock.
