I have a 4Lo wiring loom connected to a 31k ypvs stator and rotor and am wondering how to hook up the tachometer from a 85-86 (electric) ypvs set of clocks?

Tacho needs a switched 12v supply, a ground and pulse. Supply and ground can be taken from the clock loom and will be a black and brown. The pulse needs to be taken from the cdi and is the same wire as the Ypvs signal. Think its black and yellow or grey cant remember as I am at work so will need to check wiring diagram in Haynes.

Currently running standard 31k cdi, but after I've sorted the bike I have a zeel to install.

The motor is a 421cc with Athena barrels ( no power valve )

Then as said the signal for the ypvs tacho is taken from the pv signal out the cdi
You can just take the 12v and 0v from the temp gauge.
When you swap to the zeel if it is a ypvs one it will have the same trigger

What will be the wiring configuration into the back of the tachometer?

If you look at the 3 terminals they are usually marked
Br = 12v Bl = 0v Gr =trigger
