ah ok, that is the Grampian site, they don't do them anymore, or at least when I asked last year they said they didn't, makes the bike 392cc, funnily enough I am having a set of barrels done to that spec shortly to go in my new prototype LC engine, if it works I'll be posting up on here the results, if it doesn't, I'll be keeping my mouth shut !!

Norbos got a set in his closet was tempted to buy them but changed me mind. He has the same type which is fitted to my hybrid YPVS engine

Be really careful with Mitaka, the Japanese made stuff Ive had from them has been ok, but the set of pistons Ive had recently from Taiwan were shocking.

What!.. worried the piston tops might come off ? Naww.. there's no history of that.. is there? IMO..Bin the liner notion, suggest instead having the bores Nicasil'd. Pricey certainly.. but a whole World more able solution than stuffing a piece of pipe into your barrels.

apologies if it seems i`m hijacking the thread. are there any members that have actually had their old worn out barrels re sleeved? was it a success and who did you use to do the work? i`m sure there must be a few of us looking for solutions to this inevitable issue.

I've used PJME for this service and been very happy with the service and work done

You need a master plan Dave to stop you jumping from prototype to prototype .. start by finishing your turbo!

Mark, funny you should say that, I am doing exactly that, I am working through all of my backed up projects, this one is the oldest, the 1st generation engine is going into the test bike today, might even get it run up !, if that works like I think, then a few mods and then these barrels to take it as far as I can. Then while I am waiting on the barrels I've got 2 of my road bikes to sort, and then, wait for it, the turbo is going back on the bench for finishing, I am determined to finish it this year one way or the other I'll keep you posted !

Certainly interested in this Dave, the LC lump still has followers who would like a little more oomph, instead of fitting a ypvs motor.

well we should know later today as the engine is in, just sorting some carbs out for it, exhausts are sorted, as are the electronics, so bar some wiring, rad etc to fit, she should be firing up in around 3hrs time I'd say

We've had a couple of 400cc Lc's done using long stroke cranks but it works out more expensive that way

We've had a couple of 400cc Lc's done using long stroke cranks but it works out more expensive that way I am using a 4mm stroked LC crank, not a YPVS crank, its looking promising, not sure the exhausts are right for it, but got it upto 56bhp and 35ftlbs of torque so far and that's on standard porting, my current gambit is to try and keep the motor as stock as possible and just replace the crank to give more mid range and grunt, which is exactly what it has done, its giving out better power than fitting a set of the mid range pipes to a stock LC and of course more power. I've still got a lot of work to do, but I am going to fit a set of mid range pipes on it shortly to see what it does, should be interesting as I reckon it will have a mega mid range ! I'll sort out a write up of it all shortly for those interested You know me Martin, I am all about mid range and driveability, not big numbers or blowing motors !!
