I bought a couple of boxes of engine parts from a retired racer. In amongst the bits there is a monoblock and cylinder head from a TZ 250. Can anyone tell me about these parts

Lovely bits .. in 1974. Chrome bores and they ran single ring pistons. Lots of them. Re piston/re ring after a couple of Race weekends .. sometimes longer, sometimes less. They are/were ported for Peak Hp/ narrow power bands. Making them a bit of a Pig to ride anywhere but on a track. IF mine I'd think about selling them on to a Vintage racer type.. where they could be used /appreciated.

The only info I saw was on the RC forums which basically said piston porting is rubbish

Of course they would claim that. Pretty impressive setup when New though. Good 'nuff to put Yama in the front rows of the race heirarchy
