Why is the balance pipe on a 4LO engine smaller than on a YPVS engine?
Does anyone use their engine without a balance pipe?
If you don't use a balance pipe, what is your reason for this?

Why is the balance pipe on a 4LO engine smaller than on a YPVS engine? Maybe the diameter of the balance pipe is proportional to the size of the reed valves. OEB

Yes that sounds logical

It would affect how much fuel/air mixture could cross over to the opposite side.

Does anyone use their engine without a balance pipe? If you don't use a balance pipe, what is your reason for this? Erm .. No .. The thing runs smoother idles better with the pipe in place. Easy enough to experiment and see for yourself.

You can also try 2 separate boost bottles.

You can also try 2 separate boost bottles. Oh my goodness don't start that? I have looked into it and it seems to be a lot equations needed. I do agree that it should be separate bottles. I have a modified air manifold but there is no provision for a balance pipe. I still need to do this and i was hoping there was a member with opinions or experience about balance pipe size.

Isn't the manifold drilled internally, I'm sure mine has a small passage between both sides. The RGV's just use two lengths of pipe and cross over between both rubber manifolds, up and down under the tank, quite simple, and easy to hide.

Hi BOTT your correct there is an extra plate with two channels milled into it making an internal balance tube. I didn't want to wreck that part of the manifold. The piece you see above can be put back to normal.
