Just picked up an F2 project (dont tell the mrs!) and was considering doing it grey as I always loved the ones I saw back in 91/2 in the UK as some of the last sold in dealers, but looking on Xavier's site and around I cant seem to locate any info about the grey UK bikes which I find strange. So a couple of questions: 1, Were these grey imports from Europe then? or full uk models... 2, anyone have any pics, they seem hard to find 3, anyone have an idea of what car colour is closest to Titanic Gray Metallic? 4, what colour are the wheels, they seem to be a lighter grey? 5, same question about the frame... 6, which decals would you fit to this colourway, the same as the black ones? Ta! Pic from Xaviers site:

Thanks Xavier, lots of good info there (as ever!). The issue, as weve talked about before, is that while we have the Yamaha codes, no one can make paint using those codes, I really wish we had a database of which car manufacturers used a good alternative and on what cars/years etc. Ie A few of us got together in Canada, USA and Aus and found that OEM LC white is pretty close to a Mazda off white from the 90s. The pic they use in the ebay listing for the decals clearly shows the black you mention, interesting. I didnt think the UK models had any black, but my memory isnt what it used to be lol
Baz, wow that looks nice! I could actually N2 mine, I dont have any front fairing parts and in my stash of parts I have everything needed to make an N2 lol. Did you get a car colour for your paint at all? yours is much more how I remember the ones back in the day...

That was a very popular colour scheme over here
A lot of independent car dealers have swatch cards of all colours.
Mine has always said if I needed anything never mind what car it's From, just look through the cards and pick one

Hi Jon , I was very lucky buying the bodywork off another forum member. The wheels I diid myself in Ford graghite grey .Not perfect but looks presentable.Iwas an idiot in the summer turning down NOS tank 10 miles up the road but family commitments (wife getting the bettet of me). took over. Icant help ypu on an exact paint match but if you have a sample there are paint specialists of course who could nix up a very close match.Good luck with the build.

I've changed my mind on liking that scheme
Any bike with a titanic reference is just tempting fate
A titanic date? Now that's a different thing all together 👿

Baz thats looks great, I'll ask about here and see if any of the local Fords are that colour, Ive no original yam grey parts here of course, we never got the model in that colour here. Steve, nah mate, its Ford grey... nothing to do with a holed boat, well a barge perhaps, but not a boat In fact FWIW a 'real' F2 is a rare thing in Aus in any form and most (all?) were red/white. What we did get is a bunch of N2s that were converted to full fairings and its considered that these were 'local OEM', ie Yam Aus sourced a fibreglass fairing and a frame and fitted it to the N models to help sell them. These are almost always seen in blue and Ive never seen a nice one lol. I think these were our 1987 models, perhaps as late as some 88s, but Ive never owned one so cant comment on their compliance dates (all road bikes have dated plates on their frames here). This makes the rectangular headlight F2 a very rare thing in Aus, another 1 year bike like the F1 lol. Rather than muddy my thread abut grey bikes, this is a link to some pics of the round light fully faired F2: rdlccrazy.proboards.com/thread/17154/rds-australia?page=11

Great colour scheme Jon.I'm doing one at the moment as Ialways liked the colour. I agree and had totally forgotten that that even existed. Back in the day I would have loved to have traded in my LC for one of those, now I'm looking for an LC again,...funny that.
