Anyone found a particular cleaning or polishing product to be the best, whether it be for a bike or their 4 wheeled vehicle?
I've used MER polish a fair bit and it seems to be good at removing most stains on body panels etc, Autoglym is pretty good too.
In the past I have used tubes of Autosol for the shiny metal but I've heard some say that it's too abrasive/gritty, OK to use on old chrome pipes etc, it certainly does bring them back to life but I'm not sure about using it on newer chrome plating for example, may do more harm than good??
Any recommendations for a particular wash/shampoo?

Dunno.. I used Auto sol on Wife's silver to polish what her silver polish wouldn't. Also on the Cast Zinc Platter on my Thorens Turntable... for a chrome like shine which lasts for ~ 1 yr Think there's some kind of wax in the stuff.

For 'Soft' metals I use Autosol Aluminium polish (silver) not normal Autosol (gold) always leaves a micro scratched finish... For Paintwork it will depend what your trying to do achieve, I have 3 bottle of 3M perfect it 111 range... cutting compound, Fine and ultra fine for the final stage before Polish or carnauba wax. If you have just painted your panels and have imperfections and they need flatting down then Compound is needed.. Depending on how bad they are wet flatting with 1200,2000 wet and dry then you can go on to 3000 then 6000 Trizact used on a DA sander.. When my car has the "swirl" marks from washing a few times I sometimes just hit them with the 6000 trizact a quick compound fine then ultra fine... I have only ever used Autosol for shiny bits and Mer for bodywork. But for quick and easy clean and polish I use Greased Lightning which is good but doesn't last long.

I am not knocking products like Mer, people seem to love it But products like Mer and T cut contain Ammonia or they used too.. I know this doesn't really apply to bikes but it will polish GRP nicely but it will dull very quickly.. It could also do this for some paints.. It also contains Silicone, Not good if your painting your next project in the same area you've been polishing your pride and joy..

Vulcanet waterless washing is great for a quick easy wash. Really worth trying.
