just received a new 4LO oil pump from fowlers ; I had concerns it was for a 250 (cable pulley stamped 4L1)
So I called fowlers; they couldn't help , to be fair to the lad I was talking to he was probably half the age of the bike and wouldn't know the difference between 4LO and 4L1
So I contacted arrow , described what I had and the colour of the paint splash and he confirmed it was the correct pump .
then he dropped a bomb shell "don't forget , these superseded pumps are not set up for an old bike "
he talked me through setting the gap , I robbed the shims from the old pump , perfect . Had I not contacted him god knows what would have happened

Kostas, because the new pumps have a 1UA part number they are set up 4-6 thou and the earlier bikes which they are still fully compatible for need to be set up at 8-10 thou.

I'll add my 2 cents to this... Thanks Gary! My pump arrived today, safe and sound, and frankly looking like brand new. Plus all the bits to fit it back on. Top service. Cheers Duncan

He sure is! It still saddens me when I tell people (online and locally) about Arrow and they insist they will service their pumps themselves. Why on earth would you risk that when we have such a wonderful resource for our hobby. The peace of mind of having an expert do this work (and to such a high standard) is worth every penny and more. Thanks again mate, youre a star
