I use BR10EG in my engines. Loads cheaper than EIX and according to my local bike man, less likely to foul.

nothing wrong with 8's in a tuned motor, unless you ride it really hard, using a harder/colder plug could cause you issues for normal day to day use, 9's are fine but 10's are a bit cold for most riders
The state of the tune does not determine the plug to use on its own, there are a number of factors to take into account, not least of which includes squish, air intake system, size of carbs, type/style of exhausts, ignition system, cooling system/method, ignition coils to name a few.........

In theory, you should run the highest number plug that does not foul. I might try some 11's just to see how I get on :-)

Why is that ? Plugs take combustion heat, they do not effect it, either way. Small point in my experiences.. in purposely running a colder plug. Although I'm likiing your Fine electrode NGKs. Been using NGK iridiums (9"s) for some years now (same plugs) which also have a v fine electrode. Oem Iridiums in My Honda moto and My Acura auto are claimed as 100,000 km service interval items. So at least long lived enough to offset their high purchase cost.
