Afternoon men. Just been to my local MOT tester on the F2 for mot. He has had an RD125LC in the shop for years which i have asked about before. Today he said he has sorted the engine and got it running now and started it up. It fired first kick and there is not one rattle/rumble/tap etc from the engine. Sounded real sweet. Its a matching numbers bike,in his name, and he said is selling in next couple of weeks with years mot. Now the odd part. He said he thinks its an import or mk 3. It has working powervalve, the gold wheels and standard exhaust. The frame and engine numbers are 12A though, so if im correct thats a mk1? Its also on A Reg plate. It is all there, the bits that are not on it he has. In reality it just needs a tidy up/Paint job or ride as is as will be mot'd. He wants £1500 for it. Reckons he will get that easy Any thoughts on the price??

Something wrong there
12A is a UK mk1 and should not have ypvs
Non uk would be 10w but still no ypvs
Well that's what I thought
Not sure if you can fit ypvs top end and crank in mk1 cases Steve

IMHO its all its money and then some, it all depends what you want. if you want a bitsa then its fine, but after you factor in the cost of a paint job and a few other jobs you may as well buy an already restored one.

Agree, bista- Frankenstein. 12A MK1 with Mk2/3 euro spec and not even complete, or original paint spec. To be fair, that ain't a problem, especially if the little LC is mechanically sound; however, is the price fair..?

It is all there apart from rad guard. The other bits that are not on it are in the shop. The only bonus is engine is sweet. I think it's too much factoring tidy up costs so may just go say too much for me good luck selling & leave my number.

What does one actually Do with a 125 (~ 1/3rd of an LC)...Chase Mopeds? It's not even a Dirt Bike which would at least have obvious purpose. Merely curious is all

Merely curious is all I've thought the same, why would any middle aged seasoned biker want a 125 period? They were OK speed wise when we were lighter 17 year old's. I'm guessing that it's more to do with nostalgia and putting one back together, if you actually owned one back then, there's no harm in wanting to own one now, it probably wouldn't get used much on the road anyhow.

I still am lighter Used to blat my old one around before selling it to buy the dt. Perhaps its about showing these youngsters that their new funky 4 strokes with incredibly loud exhausts are not the best things around Spoke to the guy yesterday. £900 with full mot decisions decisions

Apart from twist and go scooters, I don't see many young motorcycle riders period.

Cbr 125s and yzf 125s with loud pipes. I would love an lc125 great bikes do it, ignore mr sunshine 🌞 Technically it isn’t a 1/3rd its half or 50% of a 250 or 5/14ths of a 350. At least be accurate 😘

Merely curious is all good question but if you and a friend or a few mates have similar bikes it is good fun going out on a run. i ride out with the vmcc crowd and mostly do about 50mph down tiny little lanes.

£900 is a steal. I've spent about that on parts to rebuild my mk1 that I paid £500 for originally.
