I wanted to strip down the caliper on my RD 250 LC, the piston is very stiff even when using the the brake system I can not get the piston out. It will move a bit. Help!! What can I do?

try usin 2 pairs of water pump plier thingys n havin them opposite each other on one piston at a time and try to squeeze the piston in but u must squeeze it squarley.thats wot usually works for me :)good luck

What can I do? drop the calliper in boiling hot water then try,but to be honest i use boiling hot water and a air line. :obut be careful where you point it ;D ;D .the piston will fly out

Try Mole grips on the pisten it will put marks on it but if you are replacing it then who cares. Put the caliper in a vice and just rock the pison back and forth with the grips. Simple and it will pull it out I was hoping not to have to change the piston only the seals! Any other ideas, going to have something to eat then I'm off to my cold garage for another play!!

I think it will do the job as the alloy will expand and the heat will soften the seals in the caliper helping you to pumt it out.

If the pison has'nt got to much rust on it then new seals will do they are just £5 . If the piston has a lot of rust on it then you need the pison as well £19 for the kit
