EDITED: I didnt know what this wheel was from originally, so now we know, has anyone ever done this, will it work or is the sprocket offset too much or too weedy for the LCs power or something?
----- I picked up a rear wheel I was told was LC350, but its 18x2.15 and not 1.85 and also not made by Enkei, just the normal Asahi.
It seems to have 6 smaller sized cush rubbers (like more modern bikes) and not 4 like the LC.
hmmm.... any thoughts? I know the XJ/XVs had wheels like this but not very many of them are chain drive, hmm....

i think i heard a long time ago.. that racers used those wheels as they had a bigger brake drum than the LC, anyone know for sure?

Interesting, I didnt check the brake drum, I'll check that this weekend and report back.

A quick look at the Vesrah site suggests they both have a 179mm diameter and the LC is 30mm width but the XJ is wider at 40mm. hmm... so I need the XJ550 brake backplate then I guess (or a 10mm spacer and run the LC rear brake parts and not make use of the wider drum LOL).

Do you really need the extra rear brake capacity of the wider drum? Perhaps not, as LC's are Much lighter than the Xj's. And unless regularly trail braking? The XJ wheel looks a clever way of getting a usably wider J rim on to the LC surreptitiously

THE US xj550 CAME WITH A 16" INCH REAR WHEEL.

I agree bare, I dont need a bigger rear brake, but the wider rim is nice.
Mark, I saw that when i was looking at specs, tiny wheel!

Hi, Just to revive this thread, has anyone used this wheel yet?
What spacers were used and was the swing arm spread at all?
Cheers.

I’m also interested to know this, as it's what I was planning to use on my 4 cylinder build, together with a standard looking but strengthened swing arm. Unfortunately the only front wheel I can find from the XJ is 19 inch and probably no wider than the LC, and I wondered how a much wider rear section tyre would adversely affect handling?.

It's only a little wider, so I would go to a 120 section rear. It's not going to adversely affect the handling due to the small increase in width. There would probably be a slight increase in weight though. I'm more concerned what spacers are needed, as I don't have a lathe at the moment. Looks like it's a 17mm spindle using the XJ bearings at least.

I still have the wheel here, I asked the seller to see if he could find me the matching brake and here never did. I could make up a spacer to use the LC brake but that would be tough to fit perhaps, maybe use a pin in the wheel that the axle pushes out. hmm. Anyway, Ive enough to do without this project so if anyone in Aus wants to take on this project id sell it cheap, comes with cush drive and sprocket but no brake.
