Been having a look at a new bikes recently (second hand) and was looking at a KTM Adventure last weekend at the thick end 13k and all was going well until the dealer advised me that the warranty was 3 months. I came back suggesting that a bike costing as much as it did should surely come with a warranty longer than 90 days. I further suggested that a bike costing that much should surely have a warranty of at least 6 months if not 12 to which he replied 3 months is what you get in a rather abrupt manor so I promptly left. I'm now finding that a lot of the bikes I'm looking at all seem to come with just 3 months warranty, is it me expecting too much or is it reasonable to expect 6 or even 12 months warranty on a bike costing over 10k.

3 fookin months?? Its 2 years on new Yams isn't it? If only 3 months is offered it sounds like the manufacturer has little or no confidence in its products..... Don't walk away....run.
Just put glasses on...(second hand) Still think you should get 6 months at least if your spending near 13k!

Yeah the thing about KTM is that most of the range are competition bikes where 3 months is fine, but with their road stuff I would have thought youd get more too.... Not that it helps you, but it is interesting, I had a quick look at what Aussie KTM'ers get and its 2 years... but thats cos its law here to offer two years on pretty much anything sold. Apple and others got caught out in this with their extended warranties being basically fraudulent if they didnt go past 24mths, it was all over the web at the time of course.
Anyway, KTM say this "KTM stands for reliability and quality. Our faith in our products is such that we provide a 24-month manufacturer’s warranty on our street motorcycles. Professional servicing and inspections by authorised KTM dealers must be carried out to maintain the right to claim under warranty."
The last bit is actually illegal in Aus... you must allow retention of warranty even when servicing outside the dealer network, its anti competition for the small guy under the arches etc. In fact our laws say that you dont need to be qualiified to service a vehicle, just competent. how the lawyers would love a go at disproving say 'my' lack of vehiclular knowledge would be interesting.

The bike in question was a 2015 bike and as I said was the thick end of 13k which is only £1200 off the price of a brand new one with which you do get a 2 year warranty with european breakdown cover included. Was only looking at this one as it was at the top end of my budget and had a lot of extra's which would have cost a small foretune to add to the initial cost of the bike. Also looked at a Ducati Multistrada at a Ducati main dealer which again was well over 10k and still only a 3 month warranty. The only dealer to offer a decent warranty on a sewcond bike is BMW which comes with a 24 month warranty with european breakdown cover as standard, as long as you keep up the service history. Problem is that I quite like the look of the KTM !

Bike warranties are a joke my 2 yr old duke that's only done 2000 miles had 3 months and I'm Just buying a used car that's 10yrs old that comes with a complete 12 month parts and labour warranty includes all engine work etc if needed. It is however slightly more expensive than the bike.
